Special units and security and shift workers then searched the building classroom by classroom on the basis of the operational concepts agreed with schools in the event of amok alarm and accompanied all students through secured areas from the building to the assembly point at the Koelnmesse Congress Center, where pastors and psychosocial support workers were on site and looked after children and their parents, to whom their children were handed over. The fire brigade cared for four children as a precaution; transport to the hospital was not necessary. At the end of the operation, it was clear that there had never been an actual threatening situation. The reason for the alarm being triggered in the school is the subject of investigations. The search measures were completed at around 1 p.m. At least several special units of the North Rhine-Westphalia police were deployed, 20 radio patrol cars, 1 radio patrol car of the Federal Police, the OVA, 3 BVA, fire engines 9, 10, 1 emergency medical vehicle, 6 ambulances, the MBUS, the care unit of the German Red Cross and emergency chaplains.
