I apologize for the technical glitches between 6:20 and 6:50. I am glad that a video of "The Robbers" can be found at all, which spares one from the annoying airs and graces of German director's theater as well as the dubious charm of amateur provincial theater. Generations of high school students are led to believe that there is a canon of particularly important dramas. No more than what feels like a dozen supposed major works from the Enlightenment (Lessing), Sturm und Drang/Classic (Schiller Goethe) through Kleist, Büchner, Hauptmann and Brecht are presented as the pinnacle of their respective eras and movements, but the few appealing productions are never seen. Not because they don't exist, but because they are left to rot in the broadcasters' archives in favor of gigantic mountains of garbage in full HD, like old Moor in the tower.
