Childhood has a huge impact on our future lives. It is a time when we develop intensively and learn how to act and cope in various situations. If we develop non-adaptive patterns during adolescence, as well as disturbed strategies for mental and social functioning, the effects of this can negatively affect our adulthood. Schema therapy is one of the recommended forms of therapeutic work - scientific studies show its effectiveness in this type of difficulties. What is schema therapy? How does schema therapy help clients and patients? What therapeutic techniques does it feature? What does the course of therapeutic meetings look like? These and many more questions are answered by Agata Muszyńska, psychologist, certified schema therapist. The meeting is led by Zofia Szynal. Agata Muszyńska - psychologist, certified cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist, certified schema therapist and certified supervisor/trainer of schema therapy. She runs a private practice. She works with adults, specializing primarily in the therapy of personality disorders resulting from the experience of difficult or traumatic events in childhood and adolescence. As part of her practice, she also supervises future therapists of schema therapy, and conducts workshops on self-work/personal development based on schema therapy for future cognitive-behavioral therapists. She is also a lecturer at the School of Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy at SWPS University, where she shares knowledge about schema therapy. She gained her psychotherapeutic experience by cooperating with the National Emergency Service for Victims of Domestic Violence "Niebieska Linia" in 2008-2012, initially as an intern and then as an on-call consultant. Then, for several years, she conducted cognitive-behavioral group therapy for people with mood disorders, anxiety disorders and personality disorders at the Psychotherapy Center at the Nowowiejski Hospital in Warsaw. She is currently developing her professional skills towards conducting couples schema therapy. She is in the process of certification.
