Saudi Arabia opened its doors just four years ago, and the world is only now discovering Al-Ula, its oasis, and all around it, the remains of a pre-Islamic Arab civilization. It is one of the largest archaeological sites in the world. A hundred French people are participating and are uncovering an open-air museum. With them, we went back in time, on the ancient caravan route and discovered Hegra, a World Heritage Site. In the first century BC, the Nabataeans came down from the North, from their capital, Petra, in Jordan, to found this city. This marked the end of the kingdom of Dadan, which had been established there since the fifth century BC. We still don't know much about what was the ancient capital of Arabia, but that morning, we had the incredible chance to see history being written before our eyes: the discovery of the first untouched tomb on the site. Centuries of sediment have accumulated under the slabs. Six days of excavations in all, to confirm the hope of Chloé, Louise and Jocelyn. With infinite caution, the three archaeologists have therefore unearthed, for the first time on this site, an intact burial and a face of this ancient past.
