The mounted police unit of the Saxon police masters demanding operations at demonstrations, football matches or city festivals. Riders and horses have to cope with noise, fire or crowds with ease. At the site in Großerkmannsdorf near Dresden, 17 police officers work with 21 specially trained horses. These undergo up to two years of training, which includes getting used to firearms, pyrotechnics and other operational situations. For the officers, the work is physically demanding, but also a labor of love. Police Chief Inspector Luise Schuster describes it as a dream job: "I can combine my hobby with my job."
