The Santa Lucía building, also known as the Barco Building, was built between 1932 and 1934 by architect Sergio Larraín García-Moreno in the modern style that made it one of the first works of this architectural movement in Chile. It is located at the intersection of Santa Lucía and Merced streets in the heart of Santiago next to the iconic Santa Lucía hill and the famous Lastarria neighborhood. At that time, in the 1930s, its strange and unusual exterior caused a great stir, however, today it is one of the symbols of Santiago declared an urban heritage site.
