Welcome to Sachsen-Anhalt.TV - My name is Pia. Today I'm reporting on the Harzkristall Manufaktur in Derenburg near Wernigerode. It is one of the few glassworks still in production in Germany. The glassworks, founded in 1949 by Sudeten German glassmakers, is the only glassworks in the Harz and the northernmost glassworks in Germany. I've prepared something on site here. The two-story shopping world with two year-round Christmas departments invites you to go on an extensive shopping spree. Here you can experience glass in all shapes and colors. Most of the products are still made in the glass factory today. From glass jewelry to decorative glass animals and outdoor products to exclusive glass vases and lampshades made of glass, you can find a diverse range of glass here. In the two year-round Christmas departments there are classic Christmas tree balls and other Christmas tree decorations made of glass to admire and buy. There is also a Harz witch made of glass. The direct demonstration of the design of glass products is well worth seeing. The ManufaktOur experience tour lets you experience glass with all your senses. You can also learn everything about the creation and processing of the raw material glass. Here you can watch glassblowers produce hand-blown glass products up close, while feeling the heat of the melting furnace on your face. Tours are offered daily. After the tour, there is coffee, cake and other delicacies in the Café Harzkristall. It is completely on one level and has almost 100 seats inside and a further 80 seats outside.
