c by Troll! Enjoy another ride on the narrow-gauge railway from Stargard to Dobra Nowogardzkie (Daber) through the extensive landscape of Hinterpommern, which ceased operations forever in 2001. For comparison, there is a small, depressing series of photos taken on my last visit in 2011. At the end of the 19th century, Hinterpommern was opened up by a large number of narrow-gauge railways, primarily by the well-known company Lenz&Co. Almost all of the companies were merged into one company by the Pomeranian State Railways by the end of the war. After the war, the Polish administration put the network together and, where it had not already existed, standardized it to a track width of 1000 mm. Of the huge network, which was around 600 km at its greatest extent, 466 km of track remained by the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall, mainly for freight traffic. By 2001, the rest of the operation had been gradually shut down and the network is now closed except for a few excursion routes and has also been largely dismantled. The video is a joint production with my two friends MW and PW and was created mainly thanks to the good equipment from M., as I didn't have a decent video camera at the time. The film is also a memory of our joint tours to our neighboring country. When looking at these recordings, the old saying that good friendships can last a lifetime, whereas love for life often only lasts a few months, is always true. PS: Yes, I looked different back then... ;) The music at the end is from the excellent French dark ambient project Artesia and is an excerpt from the fitting title Tristesse. I don't have the rights to the music, but would still be happy if it could stay.
