Hamburg S-Bahn with entrances and exits. We drove from Hamburg main station to Stade. Back with the new S-Bahn line 5 (from September 2023) in the direction of Elbgaustraße. Special feature of this S-Bahn: It runs with 2 different power collection systems. As the only S-Bahn in Germany, the Hamburg system uses both direct current (1200 V), which is taken from a conductor rail attached to the side next to the track, and alternating current (15 kV, 16.7 Hz) on the outer route Stade - Neugraben, which is obtained via conventional overhead lines (seen in the video after 5 min. 35 sec.). BR 474 and ET 490 (for the first time up to 140 km/h fast) are used here. You can see several short and longer video recordings of the return journey with a view of the route. At times it was quite loud in the S-Bahn. Finally, a side view of the Binnenalster. S-Bahn Hamburg with entrances and exits. From Hamburg main station we drove to Stade.
