This card or permit is an indefinite authorization in Spain, and the card is valid for five years. In this news we give you the 10 keys to the Authorization of Long-Term Residence. 1. CONTINUOUS RESIDENCE FOR FIVE YEARS In order to process the Authorization of Long-Term Residence it is necessary to prove that we have resided in Spain during the five years prior to the application, and that this residence has always been legal and continuous in our country. This is the most commonly used way today to access this long-term permit, but the law establishes other assumptions through which we can also access this type of permanent or long-term residence. We list the rest of the assumptions to request a Long-Term Residence: Being a resident beneficiary of a contributory retirement pension, included within the protective action of the Spanish Social Security system. Having resided for five continuous years as a holder of an EU Blue Card in the European Union, provided that the two years immediately prior to the date of application said residence has occurred in Spanish territory. Be a resident who is the beneficiary of a permanent disability pension or a pension for severe disability, in its contributory form, included in the protective action of the Spanish Social Security system or of benefits similar to those previously obtained in Spain and consisting of a non-capitalisable life annuity, sufficient for his/her support. Be a resident and have been born in Spain and upon reaching the age of majority have resided in Spain legally and continuously for at least three consecutive years immediately prior to the application. Have been Spanish by origin and have lost Spanish nationality. Be a resident who, upon reaching the age of majority, has been under the guardianship of a Spanish public entity for the five consecutive years immediately prior. Be stateless, a refugee or beneficiary of subsidiary protection, be in Spanish territory and have been recognised as having the respective status in Spain. Have contributed significantly to the economic, scientific or cultural progress of Spain, or to the projection of Spain abroad. In these cases, it will be up to the holder of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security to grant the long-term residence permit, following a report from the holder of the Ministry of the Interior. 2. NOT HAVING A CRIMINAL RECORD As with any other card or authorization, it is necessary not to have any type of criminal or police record, and therefore the ideal is that you do not have any of these criminal records, or if you do, you cancel them before applying for Long-Term Residence. ...
