The recording date was March 3rd, 1985 (Showa 60), and I think this is a valuable sound source of the 451 series express Tokiwa, which was about to be retired before the timetable change on the 15th. The image is of Kumoha 451-1 and others taken at Ueno Station on another day, but the 415 series next to it was still a new car, so it's nostalgic. I rode from Sendai to Ueno (Okuma to Taira, not recorded because I didn't have a tape), but there was no space before departure at Sendai Station, and the 7-car train was surprisingly crowded, so I had to stand on the deck until around Haranomachi. *Recorded on the driver's side deck of Kumoha 451-2 Mizukatsu on the Joban Line Express Tokiwa No. 20. (The conductor's announcement is not included) 1. Before departing from Sendai 2. Recorded about 10 minutes after departing from Sendai Station near the deck (the conductor's announcement is included) 3. Taira to Ueda 4. Running scene before arriving at Tsuchiura to Tsuchiura departure (announcement of Tsukuba Expo and the opening of Expo Central Station, and announcement of temporary turning off of lights inside the car when passing through a dead section) 5. Running scene passing through Ushiku Station (Fujishiro to Toride dead section: around 39 minutes 40 seconds) to Abiko 6. Abiko to Ueno (uncut) I was a student at the time, so I recorded this on the way back from a recording trip on the Senseki Line. I remember being nervous that the radio cassette player's battery would run out after recording for such a long time. It was a special ticket that included the express fare if you purchased a mini excursion ticket from the Tokyo area to the outskirts of Sendai, so I often used the express Tokiwa and Matsushima when going to Sendai. The recording equipment is a normal stereo radio cassette recorder (SANYO MR-V8), and the sound source is a tape. When the train departs from Hira, there is some conversation between passengers, but it feels like a farewell scene, so I personally don't mind it at all. Although it is a stereo recording, there may be some parts that are difficult to hear due to noise specific to tapes, so please forgive me. In reality, the section from Sendai to passing near Okuma, and from Hira (now Iwaki) to Ueno was recorded without cuts. Even so, it took nearly four hours to record using three tapes, so please understand that it will be uploaded in parts. Express trains equipped with MT46 are the main series, the 60Hz 471 series, and the DC 153 series, but this is a 4:21 gear ratio MT46 motor sound, which is a little different from the 4:82 gear ratio of the 111 series that I uploaded recently.
