Hello everyone! We're back with another Pet Guide, and today we came here to the Vega Star kennel to talk to Monika Ladewig, who breeds Siberian huskies. The husky is a very old breed. These friends originated in Siberia, which is in Russia, and helped indigenous people called Chukchis by pulling sleds on the ice. In the 1930s, these dogs were taken to Alaska, where they became very popular and conquered the world. One of the most famous huskies is Balto. He was part of a team of sled dogs that was responsible for taking the anti-diphtheria serum to the city of Nome, in Alaska. Despite Balto's fame, which gave rise to several films, books and cartoons about his story, it was actually Togo, another Siberian husky, who covered the most kilometers on this freezing journey. The husky is one of the best-known breeds in the world, and is still used for sledding and many other activities. This breed has a very specific appearance, reminiscent of a wild wolf. The eyes can be blue or brown, or even one of each color. The husky is accepted in all colors, from black to white, and with various patterns. The height of males is between 53cm and 60cm, and of females between 50cm and 56cm. The weight is 15.5kg to 23kg for females, and 20.5kg to 28kg for males. The price of these friends, from responsible breeders, varies between R$3,000 and R$4,000. These dogs are determined, intelligent and friendly.
