We were on our favorite island of Rügen again. By bike again, of course. During our autumn stay, we concentrated on one of the Rügen peninsulas, Jasmund. Jasmund is of course home to the Stubbenkammer with its wonderful beech forest (Jasmund National Park) and the Königsstuhl. But Jasmund is also home to the silence and isolation, which is simply good for you. Away from the cars, away from any other noise pollution; here on Jasmund you can relax. The cranes have long since noticed this and so they make their stopover here on their long autumn journey south. They find enough food in the harvested corn fields and feel safe in the shallow waters of the ground at night. They are lovely animals and we are happy when we see them and can watch them. This year, we were not disappointed in this regard either. We have been to Rügen many times and I actually know a lot of paths, but we have discovered new ones this year. I also cycled along confusing forest paths to see whether they were rideable or not. Some were, others were not. The bottom line for me is that the whole island has really good and beautiful cycle paths that make for the most beautiful bike tours for a stay of, say, at least 14 days. However, it is an advantage if you know your way around or have already tried out a few paths. Music: The Painted Night, National Sweetheart
