The last day of our autumn stay in the southern part of Rügen has arrived. We felt isolated from the world in our home on the Rügen Bodden. The Bodden, the view across it to the island of Vilm, the riverside paths towards Mönchgut: simply wonderful. If you are looking for peace and nature, this is the right place for you. Today, October 16, 23, the weather was consistent. It was wet and windy, but it was still beautiful. Rügen is a dream island, especially for cyclists. We cycled back into Putbus via Kastanienallee. The path led us through the castle park, past the princely theater and across the market square of the rose city until we reached the railway line. Our destination for today is Stralsund, because from there we will take the train towards Bremen/Delmenhorst. The railway line then stretched as far as Garz. But the splendor did not end there. Newly renovated cycle paths led us through the water world of the Puddeminer, Mellnitzer and Üselitzer Wieks. It is a paradise for water birds, which are protected here from the rigors of civilization. It is only a stone's throw from Rügen to the Stralsund mainland. The Strelasund lies in between. A dam was once built that also allows trains to reach the island. Many, many people, especially in summer, want to go to the island, and unfortunately almost always with the help of their cars. The old Rügendamm could not cope with the columns of cars. A new, colossal bridge was needed. It runs parallel to and at a great height to the Rügendamm. I recommend that you do not look there to experience the fascination of the old Hanseatic city of Stralsund. The entire cycle route between Putbus and Stralsund is varied and integrated into nature. You only have to notice noise and cars again in Stralsund. The route is one of the most beautiful that I know. Music: Wager With Angels by Nathan Moore
