A visit to the Rostock tram. Since the T6A2 railcars are to be retired in 2013 and replaced by Tramlinks, I drove to Rostock to film the Tatra railcars in action again. They are used with low-floor trailers of the NB4 type. Two T6A2s have already been converted into work cars (see orange car in the depot), one has been scrapped. The use of the Tatra vehicles is limited to line 1, as this is the only one that does not pass through the tunnel in the main station, which the Tatras are not allowed to drive through without further ado, as the Tatras, unlike the 40 low-floor railcars of the 6NGTWDE type, have not been given the new safety system. When Tatras run on other lines, they only do so with modified or shortened routes. Line 1 is currently almost exclusively the domain of Tatra. All lines run every 15 minutes, during rush hour this is condensed to 12 minutes, so the routes recorded in the depot can also be seen later on the route. One of the railcars and its trailer was designed as a football fan track for Hansa Rostock and is the only vehicle to be equipped with a single-arm pantograph, another was designed in a pseudo-historical color scheme (ivory), the Tatras originally came in these colors. I've included a short S-Bahn scene because I'm not making a new video specifically for it ;-) . It's also a transfer station to the tram, so I think it fits into the video. The Rostock S-Bahn runs with double-decker carriages and BR143 trains. ---------------- A visit to the tram system of Rostock. Because it is planned to withdraw the T6A2 Tatra trams in 2013 and replace them with Tramlink vehicles I visited the city to film them as long as they are in passenger service. They can't drive through the tunnel at the main station due to new train protection system so they serve only line 1 which isn't going through the tunnel. If they are in service on other lines then only on shortened route. Two of them (one can be seen in the depot, the orange car) were rebuilt as work cars. One tram and it's trailer was designed as a football fan car for Hansa Rostock and is the only Tatra tram with single-arm pantograph, another one got a pseudo-historic livery in beige for an advertisement. The original color of the Tatra trams was beige. All lines are in service at a frequency of 15 minutes, during the rush hour every 12 minutes, so additional trams come into service, seen here in the depot and later in passenger service. I added a short S-Bahn scene with double deck cars and class 143 locomotive. I don't wanted to make an extra video for this and it is an interchange station to the tram so I think it fits in the video.
