The sterling silver cigarette case was made in London in 1883 by Louis Dee. The blacksmith is known for his high-quality and sophisticated silver objects. The case was probably commissioned by a lady with the initials CV. The silver case is designed like an envelope that shows both the address of a Monsieur Henry Gérardin in Paris and a typical postage stamp of the time. After engraving, these elements were incorporated into enamel. Expert Wendela suspects that the cigarette case is a love gift that Monsieur Henry received from his love CV on New Year's Day 1884. The mysterious love story of the two will remain hidden, however. The seller would like more than 400 euros for her flea market find. Will the cigarette case also win hearts in the dealer's room?
