About :

The Minister of Defense and the United States Ambassador signed the contract for our country's purchase of F-35 aircraft on Thursday. The first 5th generation multi-role aircraft, out of the 32 provided for in the contract, will be delivered to Romania after 2030. They will replace the F-16 planes with which the Romanian military is now carrying out its Air Police missions and which will be taken out of service starting from year 2034. The first phase of the contract signed with the Government provides for the purchase of 32 multi-role aircraft of the 5th generation. It is the largest purchase of military equipment in the history of the Army, with a value of 6.5 billion dollars. Romania will also receive in the package elements of logistic support, maintenance services, training of pilots and technicians, but will also benefit from the modernization of the aircraft to the latest configurations.
