His mastery of war strategies, combined with a deep affinity for mathematics and his fearlessness, contributed to his countless victories. Inspired by names such as Alexander the Great; Julius Caesar and Charlemagne, Napoleon emerged as a great leader and won over the people with his charisma, while fighting against the monarchy during the Revolution. After all, was he on par with these great emperors and generals of antiquity, or did he reach even higher heights? His audacity and growing hunger for power led him, however, to crown himself emperor and often act in ways that went against his initial causes, making him controversial over time. This change of direction would raise questions about his desires and the complexity of his political decisions: what motivated Napoleon's movements, after all? How did he achieve so many victories and what legacy did he leave? How did his struggles shape the future of the world that was to come and mark history? What caused his downfall? Exiled twice, could he have truly found redemption at the end of his life on the remote island of Saint Helena? To answer these and more questions, we welcome Guilherme Freire and Henrique Bredda in episode 168 of the Os Sócios podcast. We will talk in detail about Napoleon's life, his rise and fall, the contradictions involved, the vast historical context and much more. It will be broadcast this Thursday (12/14), at 12 pm, on the Os Sócios Podcast channel.
