In my opinion, the walk is a gait that is given far too little attention. It is not uncommon for the walk to be given a negative label: a necessary evil for warming up, a gait for riding on asphalt, the gait after a horse has been ill. I wouldn't even say that the horse is not ridden enough or that horses are not worked at the walk for long enough. It is more the fact that too little attention is paid to the walk in training and other gaits are considered more valuable. Each gait has different strengths. The walk is the gait... ...of developing strength. ...for working on collection. ...for riding new tasks. ...for focusing and for bringing calm. My tips today should help you to understand the seat aid. Anyone can implement these tips. You don't have to be a top dressage rider, or a dressage talent on four legs. Just riders like you and me. The most important thing is to feel the walk again. Be a fish ???? and you will see how much this tip helps you to follow your horse's natural walking movement more easily. The next video in my series 10 tasks from classical dressage is about the seat aids in the trot.
