In the late 1970s, Richard and Vladimír Tesařík were founding members of the vocal group YoYo Band. She originally focused mainly on funk and soul, but gradually added elements of reggae, pop and Latin American music to her work. The Tesařík brothers come from Prague's Hanspaulka, and their musical companions are therefore Ivan Hlas or Ondřej Hejma, whom they have met musically and personally for many years. The YoYo Band only became famous in the early 1990s, and the biggest hits from their work are still songs from that time such as Rybitví, Kladno, To mě láká or the ballad Karviná, the meaning of whose lyrics are still disputed among fans. In the program On Air, Richard Tesařík explains, among other things, what the song is actually about, but also the very beginnings of the group, as well as the years of the YoYo Band after the death of his brother Vladimír. Why did Richard have "broom" written on the records with him in the instrumental cast? Why did he keep washing windows for a living even in the YoYo Band's heyday? And why do they have so many topographical songs? Watch the full interview. ON AIR is a talk show by music columnist Pavel Kučera with musicians and people from the music industry.
