This is the new Skoda Superb! It’s a completely new version of Skoda’s big and practical family car. Mat is going to give it a powerful and in-depth review to find out if it’s still one of the best cars in its class. In terms of design, the Superb is stylish from nose to tail. At the front is a sleek black grille with chrome surrounds, flanked by tapered side air vents. The sides are adorned with 17-19 inch alloy wheels and a crease running the length of the car. At the back is a huge Skoda lettering, but there are no fake air vents or exhaust pipes in sight! The interior design continues the stylish exterior, with a large infotainment screen in the centre of the dashboard, as well as a large digital speedometer. The interior is trimmed with eco-friendly materials throughout, although we’re not so sure about the design of the strange ‘xylophone’ on the passenger side! As for engines, there are two petrol and two diesel engines to choose from. The entry-level engine is a turbocharged 1.5-litre unit producing 150bhp, but there’s also a 2.0-litre turbo with 265bhp. The former is front-wheel drive only, while the 2.0-litre is all-wheel drive. The two diesel engines are 2.0-litre turbos producing 150bhp and 193bhp depending on your choice. The Superb starts at around £35,000, with the car we’ve got for this review (with extras fitted) costing around £41,000. So what’s the bottom line? Is this really a must-have for your family?
