Concrete and bricks are the basis of most buildings around the world, but their production has a significant impact on the environment, especially due to the high consumption of energy and natural resources. However, thanks to advances in materials research, innovative technologies are now emerging that allow the recycling of concrete and the use of more environmentally friendly alternatives, such as concrete with hemp. In this lecture, we will also discuss the use of mycelium – a fungal material – in the production of building elements that are biodegradable and environmentally friendly. ????
