In the heart of the Pacific Ocean lies a paradise archipelago: French Polynesia. Its main island, Tahiti, is home to one of the most renowned navigating nations in the world and is the departure point for cargo ships that supply the surrounding islands. For 20 years now, the Nukuhau has been sailing every month around the Tuamutu and Gambier Islands with its holds full of merchandise, nine sailors on board and a few passengers. Thousands of kilometres away, in Canada, sails the Bella-Desgagnés, a ship that tirelessly goes back and forth between the cities of Rimouski and Blanc-Sablon to supply the remote regions of the Lower North Shore and transport passengers. From April to January, the cargo ship travels the same 2,200-kilometer route, punctuated by 11 stops during which the crew works to load and unload all kinds of goods, vehicles and food.
