Everyone liked the English-style vegetable beds on compost, by Downing. And now watch a colorful Japanese film about organic farming. I will continue to give you the world experience of farming without chemicals. And, as always, excerpts from my books. I wrote this five years ago, I did not know much yet. (I will add in brackets, as I do now). - "... The critical point of no return to soil degradation is another very important thought. I know that there is a critical point of no return to soil degradation, it is again associated with the growth of the microbial community. While soil biodiversity is low, no matter what you add, organic matter is not processed into stable humus, there are no necessary food chains with high efficiency, useful minerals are not retained in the soil, so soil degradation continues. (and most importantly, plants with low photosynthesis do not drive secretions into the soil) We look for a way out in excess mulch, green manure, manure, but all this usually results in a bias towards nitrates, plants get fat, get sick, stop (photosynthesizing) driving sugars into the roots, eat up the remains of humus, and we do not approach the point of no return, but roll down to degradation. As soon as we, using EMki, ACh, mulch (composts and EM and Aero-) correctly, achieve high biodiversity of the biota, a point of no return occurs. Plants turn on photosynthesis at full capacity and begin to drive sugars to the roots. The biota is fed by root secretions of plants and uses them 100%. All carbon, having passed hundreds of food chains, accumulates in the bodies of biota (fungal hyphae synthesize glue - glomalin) and is deposited in the soil in the form of stable humus, increasing its fertility. Nothing is washed out with rain. (Humus from glomalin is preserved for thousands of years). As soon as a rich soil community of millions of food chains has formed, the biota (in the rhizosphere zone) secretes more humus than it consumes. This is the secret that "mineralists" cannot understand. This is how black earth soils grew to a depth of four meters, no one brought in organic matter from the outside, everything was done by the biota formed in stable food chains. (Thanks to hundreds of species of wild grasses working in partnership and united by mycorrhiza). The experience of farmers has shown that if you care about the biota, then it is enough to leave only the litter of grasses and cultivated plants on the field, observe crop rotation, and the fertility of the soil will increase. (and even better, periodically graze the cattle)
