I was lucky because I could use my ticket to ride in the ordinary car unreserved seating between Shin-Aomori Station and Aomori Station. I arrived and heard a singing voice echoing through the snow. I then boarded the Resort Shirakami. From Aomori Station to Akita Station, I took the Gono Line for about 5 hours of train travel.
