If the guitar starts up or makes noise, produces a muddy sound, then it makes sense to change the pickups. I have an American Carvin Bolt USA, which originally had 3 identical pickups. I put a DiMarzio Chopper in the bridge, and a DiMarzio DP-119 Class of 55 single in the neck. DiMarzio DP-119 gives a vintage sound, thanks to alnico magnets. Will replacing a pickup on a cheap Zombie or Phil Pro guitar really make them sound like an ESP Custom?
