After a freight train derailed, the Gotthard Base Tunnel had to be closed to passenger traffic for over a year. After extensive repair work, it can now resume full operation on September 2, 2024. This will also mark the first time that SBB will offer a full half-hourly service between German-speaking Switzerland and Ticino. Crossing the Alps has never been so easy.
