The house in Pinheiros, São Paulo, belongs to the third generation of the same family and was renovated to accommodate the new residents, a young couple and their dog. The spaces, which were excessively compartmentalized, poorly lit and had low ceilings, did not meet expectations. To adapt the house to contemporary living, Estúdio BRA (@estudiobra) demolished the old structure and kept only the masonry adjacent to the lot, made of solid brick and with a structural function. After the demolition, they occupied the 4x24 meter urban lot with the new program, divided into three levels: ground floor, upper floor and roof garden. On the ground floor, the spatial organization is clear, with dialogue between the kitchen, living room, garden and office, without vertical closures. The route begins at the front setback with landscaping featuring native species of the Atlantic Forest. Access to the two-story house is via a pivot door and a sliding frame, which, when fully opened, extend the social area. The dining table, next to the marble cooking island, organizes the kitchen, while the circulation to the living area is on the other side. The kitchen has cabinetry designed by the architects, hydraulic tile flooring and stone countertops, occupying 3.60 x 5.15m next to the living room, where the structure is exposed with metal pillars, metal beams, panel slabs, solid bricks and a metal sheet shelf designed by Estúdio BRA. The central garden, between the living room and the barbecue area, was gifted with a mature Jabuticabeira tree, transplanted in the final phase of the construction, contributing to thermal comfort. At the end of the lot, the office and the lavatory are divided below the roof slab, which houses medium-sized fruit trees. Access to the upper floor is via a staircase built in a mixed structure in two flights that do not touch, the first in polished reinforced concrete and the others in folded metal sheet. The upper floor is divided into two suites. The metal staircase extends to the roof, accessed via an automated hatch. The new structure, combined with the raised floor for the infrastructure, made it possible to install a lawn with a garden and vegetable patch on the same level as the wooden deck. The laundry room and infrastructure equipment are housed in a volume that can be opened or closed by perforated metal folding doors. ???? Hi, my name is Lucila Zahran Turqueto and I'm responsible for Casa de Valentina! The project started as a blog in 2008, the result of my passion for decorating spaces, when I was setting up my first house. Over time and with a lot of dedication, Casa de Valentina grew, gained momentum and matured. I received invitations to write articles for the main magazines in the segment, I was on the cover of a magazine and we won the title of the most influential design and décor blog in Latin America. Here on YouTube, you will find a select selection of architectural projects, with good decoration and interior solutions. A space for us to share inspiration and good taste!
