In two events of the Climate Alliance Initiative Region-N, we are devoting ourselves to renewable heat sources for municipal heat planning. The first event focuses on solar thermal projects, which - especially in combination with seasonal storage - can represent an important building block for a sustainable heat supply. Speakers: • Michael Klöck, Steinbeis Research Institute for Solar and Sustainable Thermal Energy Systems (Solites) • Marc Meurer, Simmern-Rheinböllen Municipal Association / Simmern Region Energy Supply (ERS) Michael Klöck offers a scientific and technical overview of the role of solar thermal energy in municipal heat projects. He highlights the potential, challenges and necessary prerequisites for the successful implementation of such projects. Marc Meurer presents a practical example: the Neuerkirch-Külz district heating network. He shows how solar thermal projects can be initiated, how to create acceptance among citizens and future customers and what supporting role municipalities can play in such projects.
