When a ray of light hits the interface between two different media, light is reflected and refracted. The law of reflection states that the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection. Snell's law of refraction can be used to calculate the angle of refraction. To do this, the two refractive indices and the angle of incidence must be known. At the end we will look at when the light is bent to the perpendicular and when it is refracted from the perpendicular.
