Whistleblowers are those citizens who refuse to look away when they witness abuse. People who sometimes prefer to lose their jobs but keep their conscience: "I spoke out because I want to be able to continue looking into the eyes of my children". Recorder is launching the "Free Voices" campaign today, in which we set out to talk about the importance of whistleblowers and tell the stories of such people: what prompted them to come forward, what effects their revelations had and what happened to them after they came forward and reported abuses. We start with an introductory episode, in which we will show how Romanian society relates to the concept of whistleblower and how the law protects you when you choose to report abuses in the institution where you work. -------------------------- Project carried out by the Recorder Community Association, in partnership with Funky Citizens, with the financial support of the Active Citizens Fund Romania, a program financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the 2014-2021 SEE Grants. -------------------------- Recorder is an online publication built by a team of journalists around these principles: honest journalism, done with passion and put in the public service.
