The Institute for Psychotraumatology of Childhood and Adolescence (IPKJ) in Hamburg aims to inform and educate various target groups about scientific and clinical findings on the causes, consequences and treatment of trauma-related disorders. The aim is also to offer a platform for people who are interested in the topic and to promote networking between these people. In our third video in the trauma video series, we deal with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the dissociative disorders that are considered trauma-related disorders. Basic knowledge is provided on how to recognize these and how to proceed if a diagnosis is made. Institute director Dr. Andreas Krüger addresses caregivers who come into contact with potentially traumatized children. This includes, for example, parents who see their child in an emotionally stressful situation, but also teachers, educators or social workers, doctors, social workers, etc. who would like to acquire basic knowledge about how to deal with potentially traumatized children and adolescents in a trauma-sensitive manner. Anyone from a professional environment who feels addressed is cordially invited to take part in the IPKJ's training and continuing education opportunities: The PITT-KID procedure, for example, is recognized by the DeGPT as a trauma therapy procedure and teaches resource-oriented, integrative treatment methods for trauma-related disorders in childhood and adolescence.
