The Cimbrian world? A culture to be experienced. Literally. At least, that's what they thought and implemented in Recoaro Terme, in the Vicenza area, at the foot of the Piccole Dolomiti, in what is called the Conca di Smeraldo or Conca Smeralda, due to the dazzling beauty of its green color, especially in spring and summer. The Cimbri are a German-speaking population who arrived in this part of the Veneto region (over the provinces of Vicenza, Trento and Verona) from Bavaria about nine centuries ago and were essentially a population of shepherds and woodcutters. But they were still bearers of a culture that, however simple and poor, has actually been maintained over the centuries, especially for linguistic protection. But in Recoaro Terme they went even further. Thanks to the resourcefulness of a group of enthusiasts, they tried to go back in time in search of their roots. And this group also includes Monica Nuvola, a very talented seamstress who, searching through faded photos (very rare) and historical testimonies, has reconstructed the typical clothes of the Cimbrian culture, which today are often worn by shopkeepers, who have become authentic living testimonials of the roots. An interesting, fun and engaging idea, set aside for some time due to the gloom of Covid and now dusted off to get people talking again about the culture of Recoaro Terme, which finds in the fabulous Chiamata di Marzo one of the highest moments of popular celebration not only in the Vicenza area but also in the Veneto and beyond!
