I'll take you to experience one of the truest celebrations of the popular traditions of Vicenza (and not only). The Chiamata di Marzo, in Recoaro Terme, is much more than a parade. There is an entire community that, every two years, meets to pay homage to its history, bringing to the square the crafts, customs and traditions that have accompanied centuries of life in Recoaro and that, in many cases, are still practiced today. The truly beautiful thing about the Chiamata di Marzo is the enthusiasm that unites the districts. I saw it firsthand by visiting various construction sites scattered on the slopes overlooking the capital and talking to the district members, I listened to the passion in wanting to build the memory of the ancestors' memory, incorporated into that float that tells of hard work, ingenuity, respect for nature and true flavors. It is not a simple parade, it never will be. An attachment like this to one's roots goes far beyond the simple desire to celebrate. It is a hymn to its cultural identity, to Recoaro's ability not to forget and, at the same time, to leverage this popular wealth to aim for a tourist revival that should pass through these aspects.
