Manuel Monsalve responds to the accusations against him. It should be remembered that a few days ago, Prosecutor Armendáriz revealed that Monsalve ordered inquiries to the PDI: “They reached the inner circle (…) they approached his department.” On the other hand, the investigation is being conducted by the chief prosecutor of the Centro Norte Prosecutor’s Office, Xavier Armendáriz, who confirmed that the process is ongoing and that several inquiries have already been carried out. Furthermore, during this past week, the prosecutor stressed that Monsalve’s institutional position will not influence the development of the investigation. “The position that a person holds does not affect the investigation at all,” he affirmed, assuring that it will be carried out impartially. The complaint, according to sources cited by La Segunda, was filed by a woman who works in the Executive and personally knows the now former undersecretary.
