Ramayana - Episode 43 - Hanuman's departure to Lanka Lankini slaughter Entering Lanka The monkey group that went in search of Sita reminds Hanuman of his forgotten power that how in his childhood he mistook the Sun for a fruit and put it in his mouth. This caused darkness in all the three worlds. When the Gods came and requested, he released the Sun and relieved them of their suffering. Jamvant also reminds Hanuman that he has been chanting the name of Ram every day and today when Ram's work has come up, he will have to show his strength to complete it. Bajrang Bali is freed from the curse, he remembers his power and flies to cross the ocean. Mainak mountain emerges from the womb of the ocean and requests Hanuman to rest for a while on its peak, but Hanuman cannot find peace without completing Ram's work, so he continues his journey without stopping. On Hanuman's way, the demoness Surasa comes with her mouth open to make him her food. Hanuman requests Surasa that after finding Sita, he himself will return to become her food. Surasa tells Hanuman that she has a boon from Brahma that no one can cross her and go ahead, so Hanuman will have to go inside her mouth. Hanuman uses his intelligence and not strength to avert this calamity. He increases his size to a great extent. Surasa has to increase her body to fit him in her mouth. Then Hanuman takes a very small form and enters Surasa's mouth and comes out swiftly. In this way, Brahma's boon is also protected. The demoness Surasa also transforms into a beautiful woman and tells that she is the mother of snakes and on the orders of the gods, she had come to test their strength and intelligence. Hanuman faces another strange obstacle. Sihika, a night-walker, lives in the middle of the ocean. She used to catch the birds flying in the sky by their shadows and eat them. When Sihika captured Hanuman's shadow in her fist in the water, Hanuman's flying in the sky stopped. Sihika catches Hanuman's shadow and brings him down and keeps it in her mouth. Then Hanuman comes out tearing her brain with a mace. Sihika dies. Hanuman crosses the seven yojana sea and lands on the land of Lanka and tries to enter Lanka in a very subtle form, but Lanka's city goddess Lankini sees him. She stops Hanuman. Hanuman takes a huge form and attacks Lankini with a mace. The injured Lankini tells that Brahma had told her that when she is defeated by a single attack of a monkey, then understand that the time for Lanka's destruction has come. She lets Hanuman go inside. Hanuman inspects Lanka in a very subtle form. Seeing Ravana sleeping in the palace, Hanuman feels like killing him at once. Hanuman does not recognize Sita ji. They see Mandodari sleeping in a room, but from her calm mind they understand that this woman cannot be Sita. Hanuman then reaches Vibhishana's palace. Here, on hearing Rama's name, Hanuman disguises himself as a Brahmin and appears before Vibhishana. Vibhishana informs him that Sita is kept in the Ashok Vatika.
