The topic of creating a convenient and practical vegetable garden has been increasingly relevant lately. In my posts, I often write about creating a decorative vegetable garden, talk about the range of plants, rules for planting and arranging various crops. And very often in direct messages and comments I receive requests to tell about creating raised (high) beds. Perhaps the time has come ???? especially now - in the fall there is a great chance to arrange your vegetable garden and prepare it for the new season. Why do I choose raised beds? If you paid attention to my publications, you probably noticed that both the / garden_from_zero project and the GARDIE show garden / gardie.land and my / oxana.piskareva objects have high beds. So! Why do I choose them? 1. Convenience. You don't have to bend down low. You can always sit down. It's easy to clean around. 2. Versatility. You can grow absolutely any crops, including potatoes. 3. Practicality. Minimum weeding, easy care of plants, protection from rodents. 4. Ideal modules for forming the space of any style of garden. 5. Possibility of using materials that emphasize the general concept of the site (wood, metal, brick) 6. Using the necessary color scheme, we create zones on the site with different emotional moods. Or combine existing ones. 7. By filling the raised beds with fertile soil and humus, we create an excellent environment for the growth and development of plants. 8. Raised beds warm up faster in the sun, and thus we can sow various crops much earlier than in the ground 9. Plants develop better when the root system is in warm soil. And in raised beds we can provide such conditions. 10. And it's just beautiful! Using raised beds, we can create various groups. For example, place several beds next to the greenhouse, one or two next to the barbecue area and grow herbs there (rosemary, thyme, onion, dill, basil). They are also appropriate in the recreation area - plant tea herbs there (mint, lemon balm, lavender, savory, St. John's wort) and enjoy the aromas.
