We were on the road again with the IGE: Mountain Railways of Europe - "Through Rübezahl's Empire". Since the Giant Mountains have the name, the title is correct. We were traveling in the area of the flood of mid-September 2024: Poland and the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, the fleet is no longer as "antique" and colorful as it was in the 90s. It is logical that the most modern railcars are mostly used here too. You didn't notice much of the landscape either, because there were dense rows of trees on most of the routes. We traveled almost exclusively by train and visited 2 railway museums. We only had a guided city tour in Jelina Gora (Hirschberg) and a bus ride through part of the Giant Mountains with a stop at the Bober Dam. In Trutnov we were able to walk around ourselves for about 2 hours. We also went through the rocky landscapes near Adrsbach. The hotels were good to very good, as was the breakfast and dinner. It was a nice change from the usual daily routine. Perhaps the film will give you some ideas for doing something like this yourself, but you should keep your luggage to a minimum.
