Based on its sister 650 platform, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is a 240kg motorcycle that does an unassuming retro tour and ticks a lot of boxes if you’re looking for something that’s easy to ride, comfortable and understated. If an American cruiser equals a long, straight road in the California desert, a bottle of Coke and a dress code of leather, what does the Super Meteor equal? Do we swap Coke for Chai tea? There’s no doubt that the Super Meteor 650 is a bold move from Royal Enfield – why would you take the risk when there are other manufacturers who have been producing cruisers for many, many years? It would be easy enough for the uninitiated to take a quick look at the new Super Meteor 650 and jump to the conclusion that it’s just a 650 Interceptor or Continental GT with some cruiser parts thrown in. They’d be wrong. Sure, it shares the same basic 648cc, air- and oil-cooled parallel-twin engine, but for the most part everything else has been tweaked for this less sporty, more laid-back application. Add to that some engineering novelties for the company and it's probably not the cheap motorcycle they were hoping for.
