#ecuador #elquiteño EPIQ is one of the largest buildings in Quito and, in volume, it is superior to all. This 24-story construction has a privileged location and communal areas that have a movie theater, bowling, swimming pools and more. Its design is inspired by the colors of the Historic Center and its construction has generated more than 2,500 jobs. Its presence does not go unnoticed. It is an imposing structure, with a single tower, but with great volume. That makes it one of the largest buildings in Quito. This is EPIQ, which has innovated the way of building, due to its attractive landmarks that capture the attention of passersby and visitors to the city. Joseph Schwarzkopf, president of US, says that this is the “most special project we have done, because in terms of construction volume it is the largest building we have built.” He details that this is an architectural achievement, because due to how it is conceived it is a difficult building to build. In addition, the work began in 2019 and the pandemic (2020) stopped its progress. Currently, 70% of the apartments are already sold. This imposing structure located on Eloy Alfaro and República avenues has 68,000 square meters of construction in a tower composed of 24 floors with offices, apartments, basements and commercial premises. EPIQ is a dynamic structure covered with pink tiles, which echoes the surprising natural beauty of the city and personifies the face of a new sustainable urbanism in Quito. This monument is a tribute to our roots, in fact, the terracotta colors were inspired by the tiles of the houses in the Historic Center of Quito. Everything is combined with the concepts of first-class contemporary architecture, creating landscapes with warm and natural textures, respecting elements such as the colors of the sunset, the Andean flora and fauna. The tall buildings have drawn a new aesthetic image around La Carolina Park, in the commercial heart of Quito. There are several buildings whose imposing vertical shape offers a new way of living in places whose main objective is to concentrate the density of people in a single building with all the amenities. On the corner of Eloy Alfaro and República streets is EPIQ, the last building that remains in the final stages of finishing. Its shape allows a nearly 360-degree tour with unique viewpoints of the capital, created by the company Uribe Schwarzkopf (US). They have about 70,000 square meters in gross area and 40,000 in useful area of a tower divided into three segments, which are separated by green areas and rest areas. In total there are 326 apartments, 30 offices, 4 commercial premises, 7 basements, 25 floors high, with a total of 32 floors built. In addition, it has three parks inside the building, two terraces, one of which has a semi-Olympic pool and communal areas. Bowling alley, cinema, music studio, squash court, games room, sauna, Turkish bath, whirlpool, coworking area, among other recreational places that residents will find within the facilities. Everything in this building has an explanation. For example, Schwarzkopf highlighted the color of the facade that was inspired by the roof of the houses in the historic center of Quito. "So you have the mix of a hyper-contemporary architect who works a lot with concrete and the colors of our traditions," he added. It is the largest building built by the company so far, and it is expected to be the largest private construction in the entire country. Like the characteristic Batman of the IQON building, it will have a special sculpture. It is called Copen-Llamen, the company decided to raise a tribute to identity and roots through a sculpture of two llamas created by the Ecuadorian artist Danilo Zamora, which will be located in the main square of the EPIQ. "The sculpture represents the essence of the city's current urban inhabitants, which are intertwined with the cultural roots of our region. It is an artistic representation that generates a dialogue between history, identity and culture with the modern world," US reported.
