<SDGs Goals: #11, #12> The Hokuriku Shinkansen will finally open between Kanazawa and Tsuruga on March 16th. With less than two weeks until the opening, test runs have been running since December 2023 at Tsuruga Station in Fukui. There are large signs welcoming the Shinkansen around the station, creating a welcoming atmosphere, but it's not just the locals in Fukui who are excited about the extension to Tsuruga. The northern Kinki area, which is more than 100 kilometers away from Tsuruga and is home to popular tourist spots such as Amanohashidate in Kyoto, is also looking forward to the arrival of the Shinkansen. We interviewed a train that holds the key to revitalizing the line.
