"With the sparkle in the eyes" A war film against the backdrop of the occupation, by an excellent director, Panos Glykofridis, in which Anestis Vlachos, Giorgos Fountas and Yiannis Fertis, as well as other great actors such as Lavrentis Dianellos, Xenia Kalogeropoulou and Kaiti Papanika. Anestis Vlachos, at the Thessaloniki Festival (September 22-28, 1966) was awarded an honorable mention for his participation in the said film, while at the same festival, the film won three more awards: Best Screenplay for Panos Glykofridis, Best Actor Role for Giorgos Foundas and music award for Christos Leontis. The premise of the film is as follows: During the German occupation, the occupiers plan to execute thirty men in retaliation for the murder of a soldier by the insurgents. Among the deceased are also three brothers (Anestis Vlachos, Giorgos Fountas and Yiannis Fertis). The villagers ask the German officer (Zoras Tsapelis) to spare the life of one of the three brothers and he accepts, but on the condition that their father (Laurentis Dianellos) chooses the one who will survive. The old man, however, will die of a heart attack, since he is unable to distinguish any of his three children. The filming of the film took place in Arta, specifically in the village of Peta in 1964. It was screened two years later in cinemas with great success. The film begins with the German motorcyclist crossing the historic bridge of Arta. Several scenes were shot in the Arachthos river.
