How can data reveal stories that change the world? This conference explores how data visualization brings together artistic, communicative, scientific and technical elements to transform complex data into accessible, impactful and memorable narratives. Using historical and current examples, the conference will show how data visualization has evolved and how it can create deep emotional connections with audiences. Through the magic of dataviz, we will discover how this tool can promote transparency, facilitate understanding and inspire positive change in society. Xaquín GV is an award-winning Galician expert in data-driven visual storytelling. He has led the Visuals team at The Guardian and has been Interactive Editor at National Geographic and The New York Times. He has received more than 50 awards at the Malofiej Awards, including Best in Show, as well as the Society for News Design Awards, Online News Association and Webbys, among others. He is co-founder of the ViT Foundation, Visualization for Transparency, based in Girona, which focuses on making open data more accessible through data visualization, helping communities make informed decisions.
