There are many bamboos in Yawata City, but this route is especially surrounded by bamboo forests, and when the wind blows, the rustling, refreshing sound is pleasant to the ears. At times, the strong winds made the bamboos clash with each other. Along the way, we passed the "Stone Fudoson" statue, and the back of the grounds was filled with the sound of pure flowing water. After that, we reached the main shrine of Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine (a national treasure). We toured the sacred "Camphor" tree, said to have been donated by Kusunoki Masashige, and the "Nobunaga Wall," donated by Oda Nobunaga. In addition, the "Shoin Front Garden" and "Kyotomine Ryo Garden," both created by Shigemori Mirei, are also worth seeing (the former is open to the public for a special period). On the way back, we walked down the main approach to the shrine and stopped off at "Aizuchi Shrine" and "Rakugaki Temple (Tanden-an)." Along the way, we could hear the constant chirping of birds, and enjoyed a moment where nature and history were in harmony. The video also includes the interior of the "Hacchakudo," which is open to the public only two days a year, so be sure to watch until the end. Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture, late November 2024 "On February 9, 2016, 10 buildings at the main shrine of Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine and 3 attached building amulets were designated as National Treasures." https://iwashimizu.or.jp/about/ I took the less-traveled "Hidamari Route" on our way up. Yawata City is known for its abundant bamboo, and this route is particularly surrounded by bamboo groves. As the wind blew, the gentle rustling of bamboo leaves created a refreshing sound, and at times, the strong wind caused the bamboos to knock against each other, producing a unique melody. Along the way, we visited "Ishi Fudoson," where the innermost part of the grounds was filled with the soothing sound of flowing water. I then reached the main shrine of Iwashimizu Hachimangu (a National Treasure), where I explored highlights such as the sacred camphor tree (“Kusunoki”) offered by Kusunoki Masashige and the "Nobunaga Wall" donated by Oda Nobunaga. Additionally, I admired two gardens designed by Mirei Shigemori: the “Shoin Front Garden” and the “Kyuho-ryo Garden” (the former is open to the public only during special exhibitions). continuously, providing a harmonious blend of nature and history. At the end, I was treated to the sight of a rainbow, a perfect way to conclude my visit. The video also features the interior of the “Octagonal Hall,” which is open to the public only two days a year. Be sure to watch until the end!
