The Library of Foreign Literature and the lecture hall "The Fourth Question" (https://4thquestion.ru/) present a series of popular science lectures "The Aesthetics of Nightmare". Since the early 80s, many completely new characters have appeared in horror cinema (from Freddy and Jason to Alien and Predator), who have replaced the good old vampires and werewolves. In the second lecture, we will talk about the most famous modern movie monsters. What events and trends led to their appearance, how these images changed and were rethought over time, and what happened when these creatures met each other. Lecturer: Danila Gorodilov - graphic artist working in the technique of easel graphics and printmaking, comic book author. ************************************************************************************* The lecture hall "The Fourth Question" (https://4thquestion.ru/) is a project about culture. And culture is a story about a person: what he lives by, what things he is surrounded by, what he thinks about at dinner, and what is on his plate. Culture covers all the diversity of our lives, and perhaps that is why it is called second nature. Culture is art, science, philosophy, everyday life. This is what the project "The Fourth Question" is about - all these components in their historical and current aspects. Warning. The purpose of this course of lectures is not to promote violence, but to study the genre of horror films as a cultural phenomenon.
