Kishu Railway, the shortest private railway in Japan, runs through Gobo City, Wakayama Prefecture. It travels a distance of just 2.7 km, and takes just eight minutes one way between the five stations of Nishi-Gobo and Gobo. It carries around 250 passengers a day. What kind of people are they, and for what purpose, where are they going? We conducted a regular observation of a day on the shortest private railway in Japan.
