Vampires, zombies, werewolves, ghosts and monsters have inhabited the horror genre of cinema since its inception (and the history of these images goes back to ancient times). The secret of their tenacity is their versatility and ability to flexibly reflect the fears and anxieties of society at each stage of its development. In the second lecture of Danila Gorodilov’s course, we will analyze these horror archetypes, learn their ancient history and symbolism, and also trace their dynamics and interpenetration. Danila Gorodilov is a graphic artist working in the technique of easel graphics and printmaking, and an author of comics.
