HAN TÜMERTEKİN Architect Question(m) / (My) Problem Han Tümertekin carries out his architectural activities within the framework of Architects and Han Tümertekin Project Consultancy Services Co. Ltd., which he founded in Istanbul. Tümertekin has realized projects primarily in Turkey, as well as in the Netherlands, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, China, Mongolia and Kenya. Tümertekin, who completed his architectural education at Istanbul Technical University, worked on historical preservation at Istanbul University. In addition to his professional studies, Tümertekin, who has also contributed to architectural education since 1992, has been a guest lecturer at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture-Paris. He is one of the founders and directors of the Master of Architecture program at Istanbul Bilgi University. Various international architectural publications have featured Tümertekin's works. In addition, selected projects have been published as a monograph by Harvard University Press. Having received various national and international awards, Tümertekin won the 2004 Aga Khan Award for Architecture with his 'B2 House'. Tümertekin was on the jury of the 2007 Aga Khan Award for Architecture and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Aga Khan Architecture Awards. Mr. Tümertekin was trained in architecture at Istanbul Technical University and graduated from the University of Istanbul. In addition to his built work, he has been teaching architecture since 1992 at several universities, such as; Harvard University Graduate School of Design; Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne; Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture, Paris. He is among the founders of the graduate programme in architecture at Bilgi University, Istanbul, where he still teaches. Mr. Tümertekin's work have been widely published in international architectural journals and a monograph of his work was published by Harvard University Press in 2006. Recipient of several prizes of architecture, Tümertekin was presented a 2004 Aga Khan Award for Architecture for the B2 House. He served on the Aga Khan 2007 Master Jury and he is a member of the awards steering committee. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
