What is light? Wave or particle? Opinions on this have been divided for centuries. Today we know that light has both wave and particle properties. This dual nature of light is one of the cornerstones of quantum mechanics. But we'll take it slowly and chronologically and in this video we'll take a closer look at the double-slit experiment of 1801, with which Thomas Young was able to experimentally prove the wave properties of light for the first time in the history of physics.
