Qbuzz has taken over bus transport from Arriva in the South Holland North concession (roughly Leiden, Gouda, Alphen a/d Rijn) since December 15, 2024. Qbuzz has purchased many new electric buses from Iveco and Yutong for this new concession. There are also temporary diesel buses from Volvo and VDL. A complete equipment overview can be found below. The concession area includes the cities of Leiden, Alphen aan den Rijn and Gouda and the towns of Katwijk, Noordwijk, Noordwijkerhout, Lisse, Boskoop, Bodegraven, Waddinxveen, Schoonhoven, among others. The province of South Holland put the concession on the market and four bidders responded: Arriva, Qbuzz, Transdev/Connexxion and EBS. The old carrier Arriva, Transdev and EBS unfortunately did not win. Qbuzz walked away with the win. Qbuzz offered 100% electric bus transport from the start of the concession. Unfortunately, in retrospect, this did not work out. 140 buses were ordered from Iveco, of which only 40 were delivered on time to be deployed. 112 electric buses were ordered from the Belgian Van Hool. Van Hool went bankrupt at the beginning of 2024 and as a result the order did not go through. Qbuzz therefore found a new builder for 50 buses: Yutong. This Chinese company was able to deliver 50 buses on time for the start of the concession. This was also successful. The remaining buses from the order with Van Hool (62 units) and the buses from Iveco that had not yet been delivered (approx. 100 units) were replaced with temporary buses. This concerns both the use of diesel buses re-stickered in the correct house style, as well as diesel buses from other carriers, and the use of coaches.
